Hey guys. Thanks again for sending CITP such an ace mix! Please tell us who makes up Ytre
Rymden Dansskola and where you are from?
Marius Våreid and Jarle Bråthen, both Skien,Telemark,Norway
Can you explain what Ytre Rymden Dansskola mean to us non-Norwegian speaking folks …
something about a dance school?
Actually the name is Swedish, but your guess is right, it means Outer Space Dance
Academy/School.
Do each of you bring a different dynamic when you go into the studio or you have quite
similar reference points?
We are fortunate to have different reference points, and Ytre Rymden Dansskola is what
happens when we put our heads together with our differences.
How did you hook up and start making music together?
We met at the venue where Jarle was playing at the time. He was playing very different from
other dj’s in the area. Mutual interest in music.
Have either of you released any music under other names?
Indeed, Marius is a award winning producer with groups like Päronsoda, who’s album A
Nightclub in Tunisia won Electronica Album of the Year in the Norwegian Grammy Awards in
1998. Releasing music under a wide range of names.
Jarle is releasing music as Zauberfluten, Jarle Braathen aka DjBobtraxx.
I read that Jarle is quite a seasoned dj in Norway, with trips to play in Ibiza and resident at
the Park Club in Porsgrunn called “Disco Knight / a Knight to Remember”. How's the night
going and what kind of music do you get away with playing.
Jarle is almost a veteran, with 1/3 of a lifetime-experience when it comes to djing.
Those nights are pure disco. Obscure is not the word , but rather on the left side .
Do you ever do gigs together?
Rarely, but we are working on a live set.
How did you get caught up in the nightlife scene?
We both started Djing at an early age. But we are professionals , not party kings .
What do you both play out with, vinyl or mp3 and do you think vinyl has a future left.
We are vinyl heads, but mp3 makes good music more available. Vinyl have a future, but only
within certain scenes.
Are there any cool record stores where you live?
We have only one, it’s a second hand store called Harvest , where you can find pretty cool stuff
on vinyl.
What 5 records would make to your deserted island? No Ipods allowed …

How did you guys hook up with Prins Thomas’s label Full Pupp?
Thomas and Marius are old friends, but actually it was Rune Lindbæk who thought it was a
good idea to let him have some tracks for his label.
Your first release was fantastic and really looking forward to hearing more stuff from you.
Have you got any releases lined up 2008?
New 12” on ready this spring, and we are currently working on a full album for Full Pupp.
We will release 12”s on Full Pupp individually as well.
Jarle is due with “ Italiensk Salat “ on King Kong Publishing.
What other producers are doing it for you at the moment?
Todd Terje, Rune Lindbæk, Bogdan Irkûk, Reverso 68, Prins Thomas…..but really, there is so
many, like our friend Arturo Capone in Italy. We put a track of his in the mix, ” Curcuma “ , taken
from the spankin new album on Bearfunk. ( Not yet available in the shops )
Do you get time for any other interests? Like maybe fishing Marius?
Jarle is a videogames-master and Marius is a busy family man, fishing being a favorite, but
there is not much time to go fishing these days
